In our December meeting we will have a hands-on demonstration on “queen marking”. One of our experienced beekeepers will be bringing in a collection of live drone bees and marking pens and everyone interested can get a chance to learn how to safely catch and mark. If you have a queen cage, marking pens or any other items that you’d like to learn how to use, please bring them to the meeting! The more materials to use the better. Bring the gloves that you use when working bees as well.
This will also be the last meeting of the year and in light of the season, we’d like to have a year-end holiday honey-themed potluck! If you’ve got a dish that uses honey as an ingredient and would like to share it with the group, feel free to bring it! If you email the recipe to us a few days in advance, we can print these recipes out to share with the group. Our hope is that eventually we can collect enough member recipes to put together a little booklet!
6-6:30pm: Potluck dinner
6:30- pau: Short business meeting, "Queen" marking demo + recipe sharing to follow!
